the 2nd anniversary of the channel’s debut on DSTV, on Nov. 5, 2015.

Animashaun, a Nigerian entertainment entrepreneur and the television
company’s founder, tells NET how he built HipTV into one of the leading
music channels in Africa.
“We
wanted to be that music channel that everyone watches. I started Hip TV
eight years ago, with a lot of dedication, a lot of commitment, a lot
of ANGER and passion. We wanted to absolutely KILL it in the
entertainment scene.”
It
can be recalled that Hip TV was a scheduled programme on terrestrial TV
stations for six years before launching on cable platforms DSTV and
GOTV two years ago and in a market dominated by big players like MTV
Base, Trace and Soundcity, it’s impressive that Hip TV has grown to
become a force to reckon with, in just 24 months.
45-year
old Ayo Animashaun, the CEO of Smooth Promotions, an entertainment firm
that organizes The Headies award and publishes the weekly Hip Hop World
Magazine, says they’re just beginning….
